About

Dublin artist originally from county Laois, I have been living in the capital for over 20 years.

Like most artists, I have been drawing for as long as I can recall and contrary to popular belief not all artists but artists like me really struggled with the pandemic lockdown as I love to get out and capture real-life themes (for the most part) as we were not happy to sit inside and find artistic inspiration from within the confines of home.

I see myself as an artist first and foremost, essentially someone who creates and the type of art that I produce is for others to define. My artistic influences are many but the artists that fired my imagination from an early age were Salvador Dali, Caravaggio, Albrecht Durer and our own Jim Fitzpatrick. They say never meet your heroes as they will no doubt disappoint but thankfully that was not the case when I very briefly met the aforementioned Mr Fitzpatrick on the street one Summer’s day. I was in total awe and the only sentence that could I muster on that sunny day was that cringe-inducing line “I’m a big fan of your work” - oh how original he must have thought and I made a quick escape into the crowd while berating myself at my lack of originality.

I digress, in terms of my art, I want to create and cater for people who enjoy exciting visuals that have stories to tell. Original works vary in size, weight, medium and material makeup.

I love exploring and as such I attempt to be as diverse as possible, if I were pushed to describe my style then I would probably use words like quirky, observational, colourful and impressionistic all pulled together with just the right amount of realism.

A bit of personal trivia; when I was in primary school I was often not allowed to attend art class as a form of punishment which only further fuelled my passion.
